Well they call it a fireplace – I wouldn’t – this is an outdoor fire pit that is totally portable and pretty smart looking, and all currently under $150 which makes it one of the best priced fire pits we are ever likely to review.

You see we tend to avoid the cheap, cheerful and often impractical in favor of fire pits that will last a good number of years and allow you to enjoy the fun of outdoor fires safely and regularly. Surprisingly this fire bowl actually meets both criteria (cheap and good enough to be worth a serious look).

Anyway – on with the show, what do you get and what do real customers think of it?

Weber 2726 Outdoor Fire Pit Details

First up this is a rather swanky looking fire bowl. Not at all rustic so if you prefer a modern look but don’t have the budget for my favorite Copper Fire Pits it is worth a look.

The whole thing is made from a heavy gauge steel so should be solid and strong enough to last for many fun nights under the stars. Four steel legs hold the whole thing with solidity, up off the ground. The bowl and lid are porcelain enamelled to cope with the stresses of heating and cooling, and you get two wooden handles on the lid to help you push it down to dampen out the fire. This is a nifty idea as it means you can easily finish the fire whenever you like and head indoors without having to hang around waiting for the fire to fade. It also means come the morning the tidy up job should be a little more simple.

Underneath the fire bowl is a smaller aluminum dish that is a heat shield so you shouldn’t scorch the ground. It won’t catch all the ash though so if you have a pristine deck and a fear of ash marks you will need to place this over some other material.

This is simple yet good looking and modern. The fire bowl itself is large enough to be practical with a 29-1/2-Inch diameter. If you like a glossy black and steel finish this could be the best fire pit for you.

Weber 2726 Outdoor Fire Pit Reviews

So, on with the customer reactions. Well you can check out all the customer reviews via the links above (just click the image). But the trend is very positive. At the time of writing the fire tub had 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars which is fantastic considering this is a low priced fire pit and they can be very disappointing to actually use.

This outdoor fire place, though has glowing reports so far. It is straightforward to put together, taking about 30 minutes. The whole finish feels sturdy and strong and built to last, with good quality handles on the lid section. The key comments are all about the design. And this is why you will either love or hate the Weber 2726 – it is modern, shiny and a little bit different from all those run of the mill fire bowls.

To be honest we were surprised that a cheap fire pit could bring so much positive reaction. Of course you have to consider that there is no spark screen but with the lid deflecting heat downwards this is a great warmer for sitting around and should be perfectly safe used in a practical place. The Weber 2726 wood burning fireplace gets a big thumbs up from us, for providing a good quality fire pit option at an affordable price.

CobraCo SH101 Copper Fire Tub Customer Reviews

Whichever outdoor fire pit or fire bowl you chose do consider leaving a customer review as they make for extremely useful reading for future shoppers. So far the CobraCo SH101 Copper Fire Bowl Reviews are extremely favorable, but of course it is always good to have more reviews to compare. So far, the key factors are all positive:

It is sturdy and well made.

The pit itself is nice and deep & sturdy so there is plenty of room for logs without the worry of it tipping over.

The minor complaints are mainly associated with the free vinyl cover, so if weather is wet in your region it may be worth considering a different sort such as a more durable cover that will clip onto any fire tub without cracking in coal weather. There are several covers available for under $20

With such a stylish and practical deep Copper Fire Tub as the CobraCo SH101 your evenings outdoors with family and friends will be enjoyable, fun and at last warm. If you would like something slightly smaller and more affordable, the CobraCo FB6132 Copper Finish Fire Bowl is a neat solution.

Deck Fire Pits allow those with smart backyards to still enjoy the camaraderie of a campfire, without spoiling the looks or durability of their decks. Fire Pits originally, as the name suggests would be dug into the ground. But now we can all enjoy the beauty of a natural wood fire outdoors whatever the surface underfoot.

By raising the fire pit up, into a raised outdoor fireplace or table fire pit, they can be used safely even on the smartest wooden decking.

Click to Browse all Deck Fire Pits

The concept of heating with wood outdoors is something man has enjoyed forever. Whether you want to enjoy a starry night with friends, a few drinks on the deck or get creative cooking over wood the Deck Fire Pit will provide the ideal centerpiece for your backyard. Whilst a Campground Fire Pit Ring makes sense in a bigger, more rustic surroundings, a deck calls for something altogether more formal, and of course suitable for sitting on a wooden surface.

When not in use Deck Fire Pits form a sculptural addition to the garden. A feature in their own right. And, of course if you choose a fire pit table you’re really looking at something useful at all times. We all need somewhere to rest our coffee-cup and feet after a busy day in the garden.

Low Prices on Deck Fire Pits

You can pay a huge amount for a deck fire pit, or you can pay as little as $100. It is more a matter of style than substance as even the cheapest priced Deck Fire Pits are designed to be safe and sturdy and to last outside, with regular fires – so they must be heat proof and solidly built.

The widest range of Cheap Deck Fire Pits is definitely here (just click the link above to view the entire range). Reliable, well-known and best of all a good many customers email their own customer reviews so you can get real feel for each product. It’s like having a friendly recommendation on thousands of products, including hundreds of Fire Pits perfect for life on your Wooden Deck.

How to Use a Fire Pit on a Wood Deck

Most importantly you need to ensure that the heat of the fire never comes into contact with your wooden decking. At the best this would lead to burn marks or scorching, and at the worst the end of your beautiful decking. The best Fire Pits to use on Wood Decks are those raised up on sturdy legs, like a very heavy table.

This robust design is important, as you wouldn’t want to be able to knock over the fire pit table. By raising up the wood you ensure no harm comes to your deck, but it also brings the campfire up to your level, so it is actually a more efficient way of heating with wood outdoors.

A fireguard is also an invaluable piece of kit when using fire pits on decking. They prevent sparks but most importantly stop any pieces of ash being rolled out of the fire onto your deck.

Another consideration is a Fire Pit Cover as these will prolong the life of your fire pit. Fire Pit Covers also mean you can store firewood in the table fire pit when not in use, knowing it will stay dry ready for your next campfire.

When using a fire pit table on wooden decking it makes sense to have some decent heatproof Hearth Gloves and a Log Grabber. These little things make your outdoor fireplace easier to manage and safer too.

Deck Fire Pit Safety

All fires should be treated with respect and the Deck Fire Pit is no different. Think about where you site it. There should be nothing overhead and no branches nearby. The fire bowl itself needs good clearance from the wooden deck and you can improve safety even further with a protective heatproof mat. Alternatively stones or slabs under the fire pit can be a good idea.

Designs vary considerably, and range from the extremely economical to the downright luxurious. Most will pack down flat to fit in the car trunk for camping trips, and offer a simple way to ensure your camp fire is contained.

Campground Fire Pit Rings

The most common (as one would expect) are circular cast iron rings. They are designed to collapse into four or five pieces making them simple to transport to your campground. Fire Pit Rings keep the campfire from creeping and act as an unconscious barrier for children and dogs, automatically keeping them away from the flames.

Most campfire rings come with attractive cut out designs. This allows air into the very heart of the fire, which keeps the wood burning hotter for longer. Hot fires are less smoky making for an altogether more enjoyable outdoor camp fire. The cut outs also add a little more magic to an already enjoyable camping trip, as flames dance behind stars, moons and woodland creatures.

Fire Pit Grill Ring

Of course half the fun of a campfire is the ability to cook over open flames. I’m not talking ‘corden bleu’ cookery here, but some burgers, hotdogs and marshmallows can never taste better than when cooked over the burning wood of your own outdoor camp fire. What you need, is the Fire Pit Grill Ring.

This Landmann USA Campfire Ring comes with a fully sized enamelled cooking grill plate. A swing arm and wooden handle allow the food to be moved over the flames easily and safely.

Of course if you already own a campfire pit ring without a gill, you could buy one separately, or make one. Just make sure it’s big, as once you start cooking over an open flame you won’t want to eat indoors again!

Fire Pit Rings Cheap

All the fire pit rings linked here are economical. The models which fold down are the cheapest fire pit rings. Around $50 will get you one ideal for taking on camping trips or even days out in the wilds.

Spend a little more money and you get something more sturdy and more suited to a permanent setting in the backyard. In fact, if you’re looking for something more suitable to the backyard, deck or patio a fire pit ring on legs might be a better option. That way you can enjoy the warmth of the campfire from a comfortable seat.

If you choose one such as this CobraCo round fire pit table, you can still enjoy putting together a large camp fire. The deep design enables you to build up a good sized fire with plenty of large lots. That enables you to get on with relaxing whilst the campfire takes care of itself. Plus of course the fire pit screen keeps sparks in, and kids out!

Fire Rings

Of course here at Wood Burning Stoves & Fire Pits we prefer to warm our homes, patios, decks and backyards with wood. But, we understand that for many the heat and warmth is more important than the inconvenience of storing firewood and lighting a camp fire.

For you, there is an answer with gas fire ring. Some of these are portable camp fires such a the one on the left. Others are modern designs ideal for the urban backyard. All give some real flame ambiance to an outdoor gathering, but no-one needs to be in charge of keeping the fires burning; the propane does that for you.

From the Cheap Fire Pit Ring to the rather more luxurious Outdoor Fireplace, there are ways to enjoy living flames outside for all budgets and styles. Just remember wherever you site your Fire Pit ring, the surface should be flat and non-flammable. The basic Fire Rings are for putting on bare earth which you do not mind becoming a little scorched.

The Sojoe Fire Pit is an enchanting way to liven up the patio ordeck. Creating an atmosphere with an outdoor fire pit is something man has enjoyed since time immemorial. Now it can be done in a safe and stylish way. A Sojoe Fire Pit looks just as good when not in use and truly adds some sparkle to an evening spent outdoors.

The Sojoe Fire Pit

The Sojoe fire pit is one of the original patio fire pits which brought the table fire pit to so many of our decks and patios. A sturdy 3mm cold-rolled steel material gives strength and durability. But, the antique rust finish adds a touch of warmth to what could be a cold design led piece of outdoor garden furniture.

Being a fire pit of decent depth the Sojoe steel fire pits can take a good volume of wood. Most importantly it is simple (and not dangerous) adding more wood into the table when burning. More shallow table fire pits need more care indeed to ensure no-one has rolling logs raining down.

The rustic cut out design is what gives this Steel Fire Pit its over-riding feature of ease of use. Anyone who burns with wood knows that key is getting air to the heart of the fire. The cut outs ensure oxygen is able to get into the burning wood at all times. This keeps the fire burning more evenly and reduces the problem of smoke. Of cours, it gives the additional benefit of that sparkle and movement of the flames behind the cut outs, mesmerizing indeed.

Sojoe Fire Pit Reviews

It is great that so many customers now put their product reviews online. I’ve looked at several different stockists of the Sojoe and found nothing but a good response. These Sojoe Fire Pit Reviews are a great example. The key points all customers seem to agree on are:

The Sojoe is well built and designed to last.

The cut outs really work to help air-flow, reduce smoke and increase the heat of the wood fire.

The deeper size of the Sojoe works really well to keep the wood in place, and the overall size makes it suitable for even large logs.

The free waterproof cover is essential for avoiding soggy wood-ash and corrosion – a potential hazard with any patio fire pit.

The free stainless steel spark screen is of high quality and great for taking the risk out of floating embers in wooded areas.

The free poker is also essential and of high quality.

The free grill makes the Sojoe fire pit double as an extremely pretty BBQ.

The rust patina finish is powdery when the fire-pit is first manufactured, so take care when assembling this product. Once the table has been used for a wood fire, the patina hardens, and over time darkens. But prior to this the powder may rub off on clothing.

Heating with wood does not need to be confined to the inside of our homes. Why pay the high prices to buy and fuel a patio heater when an outdoor wood burner can be so much more economical and much more interesting.

Whether you’re considering a free standing wood burning stove in a sheltered corner, a simple chiminea, table fire pit, or something more substantial, heating with wood can be a design feature, and most importantly a conversation maker for your backyard.

Turning our gardens into outdoor rooms has really taken off. We spend more free-time in our homes and want to make the most of them year round. Whilst a conventional patio heater will keep the chill at bay during those late summer evenings, it definitely will not add to the atmosphere.

Adding an outdoor wood burner always creates an atmosphere. The involvement in stocking up the logs, or rearranging embers brings people together and can really turn your garden into a place of fun and enjoyment. Plus, many outdoor wood burning heaters offer the chance to cook food too, which always gets the party started. Even the most modest chiminea offers the chance to create some perfect marshmallows!

Thinking literally ‘outside of the box’ and installing some form of outside wood burner means that even if you are not a home owner, you can still enjoy the atmosphere of heating with wood.

Budgets vary enormously and outdoor wood burners can be bought for a little or a lot. There are a wide range of great chimineas, fire-pits and outdoor wood burners to peruse. And, because these are for heating up your outdoors space it is easier to let your imagination run wild. We always seem more able to have fun with our outdoors space, no matter how conservative our interior decor. So be bold, be brave and enjoy your garden all year round by heating with wood - outdoors!
